Mathematics

Mathematics at Corpus Christi involves a development of skills, knowledge and understanding of Number, Space, Measurement, Chance and Data. Through this study of Mathematics students will have the opportunity to develop an appreciation of mathematics and its applications in their everyday lives and in the worlds of science, technology, commerce, the arts and employment. The study of the subject enables students to develop a positive self concept as learners of mathematics, obtain enjoyment of mathematics and become self motivated learners through inquiry and active participation in challenging and engaging experiences.

The essential content for mathematics K-10 is structured around one process strand

Working mathematically

And five content strands

Number
Patterns and Algebra
Data
Measurement
Space and Geometry

These strands contain the knowledge, skills and understanding for the study of Mathematics in the compulsory years of schooling.
In each of the strands, particular aspects of students’ mathematical learning and understanding are developed.
